As Spring turned, kay received an offer from Project LETS to be one of their first healers-in-residence! The residency aims to uplift Indigenous and diasporic wisdom, knowledge, and approaches as Expert and create pathways for non-clinical healers to be compensated for their brilliant gifts and offerings. 🌻
Upon learning that the other healer-in-residence would be CH community member and friend, Maria Alejandra (check out Maria Alejandra’s Offerings!) we decided to collaborate and create Embodying the Elements: bridging our bodyminds and bodylands with astrology
This program moves through each of the four elements: earth, water, fire, and air, as they manifest in the body, on the planet, and in astrology. Through this residency, we’re able to offer two successive two-month cohorts of five Black and Indigenous folks weekly personalized 1-to-1 sessions, alternating between exploring their astrological natal chart with kay and embodiment wisdom with Maria Alejandra. Additionally, cohorts come together for a collective exploration of each element.

In developing this program, Aleja and I got to talk through such important questions to ensure we did this work with intention, care, and diligence. We discussed our perspectives on indigeneity and diaspora, definitions of “settler” and what it means to immigrate, traditional and non-traditional modes of healing, our relationships to lineage, identifying as healers (or not!) and what that means across cultures. We talked about peer support, companionship, and our values in our work, including the struggles in placing monetary value on what we consider sacred community work and the joy in this funding allowing for this to be free for our participants.
