P A T T E R N S: Threads of Memory is an embroidered memoir and art exhibit by Free, a black-queer-woman and embodied healing artist living with a neurological disorder. Drawing inspiration from her life, her art is imbued with a presence and vulnerability forged by her unfolding healing journey; a direct reflection of her path to self-reclamation.

In 2024, Free was diagnosed with FND (functional neurological disorder), which impacted her speech, motor skills/movements, and sensory processing. She learned sewing and embroidery as a way to re-develop her motor skills and honor the lineage of her ancestral mothers.

This is her first solo art exhibit and introduction to her community as an intuitive embroidery artist.

P A T T E R N S: Threads of Memory explores how patterns shape us and how what we create shifts us into new paradigms of expansion for deeper understanding, connection, healing, and release. Each tapestry weaves together memory, identity, and emotion, creating hand-stitched stories that reveal a personal map for healing and liberation.

Liking what ya seeing?!

Commissions will be live later this week on my ko-fi page (linked!). I'd love to receive commissions for: tulle embroidery portraits, customized fabric tapestries, and memory quilts. I'm open to dreaming up ideas with folks.
